Located conveniently down the street from my partner’s place, there is a no-fuss Afghan-Turkish joint serving the staples: donair, kebabs, falalel and plates. This is a super-easy go-to for me when I’m feeling like some Middle-Eastern eats.
The Adana is usually our choice here, though I have had the chicken plate at times. It is pretty much the same item as koobideh at Cazba, which is seasoned ground beef shaped and cooked (normally on a metal skewer). The best part of the Adana Platter is that it comes with the regular sides (rice, pita, salad) but also three, I repeat three, sauces! Garlic toum (one of my faves), hummus, and tzatziki are there for your dipping pleasure.
The sauces were the highlight for me, because I love dips and the more options the better (think chicken nugget palette, that’s my jam). The garlic was creamy and potent, just how I like it. The hummus was straightforward, in fact it seemed like it was pretty much just blended chickpea. The tzatziki was refreshing and light, thought not overly flavourful.
We don’t go here for the service because it’s a quick in-and-out, and sometimes they are out of a few of their options so it’s good to call in advance before you go, or just order over the phone.
I would give this place a try if you need to grab a quick bite – the quality is good, the prices are decent, and of course you get three sauces.
