If you’re ever around the North Burnaby area and have a hankering for breakfast, or brunch, or lunch – Gray Olive is worth checking out.
An unassuming bistro with no more than 24 seats, serving elevated breakfast (and lunch) classics with an Asian twist.
The spicy fried chicken sandwich was juicy and well-sauced: a little tangy sweetness to balance the mild heat. I opted for gluten-free bread and a salad, both were satisfying enough.
Breakfast isn’t complete without some protein and fat. But Gray Olive Cafeteria ups the bacon ante with two thick and deliciously fatty slices of pork belly served with the usual eggs cooked to your preferred style, choice of toast, tomato slices, potato cubes and sausage.
True to cafeteria fashion, you order and pay at the front cashier. When you’re finished, remember to take your empty dish-ware to the station for sorting.
- G.O. Classic Breakfast $16.75
- Fried Chicken Sandwich $13.50 (+$1 spicy, +$1.50 gluten-free bread)
